Mattel Television (formally known as HiT Entertainment from 1996-2016 & Mattel Creations from 2016-2019) is a British-American children's entertainment, production and distribution company owned by Mattel. It was originally established in 1982 as Henson International Television.

HiT Entertainment was founded by Jim Henson, Peter Orton and Sophie Turner Laing.

HiT Entertainment acquired Pingu B.V. (alongside Pingu) for over £16m in October 2001.

Hit Entertainment owned other shows, like Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, and others.

On 1 February 2012, it was announced that Mattel purchased HiT Entertainment from Apax Partners for $680 million.

In March 31, 2016, HiT Entertainment was rebranded to Mattel Creations (now, Mattel Television).

Trivia[]

  • As of Pingu Forever!, the HiT Entertainment logo with the URL and Distribution Notice is used at the end of every episode of Season 1, 2, 3 and 4.
