Hello, Pingu (also known as Pingu is Introduced) is the first episode of the first season of Pingu, and the first episode of Pingu altogether.
Plot
Pingu and his family are eating lunch. Pingu eats in a rather rude way, smashing his fork so he can scoop up his potatoes, blowing bubbles in his milk and sticking his entire fish in his mouth. He soon leaves to play with his toys, but his father forbids him from leaving until he eats his greens. So Pingu sucks them up through his straw, rushes to the bathroom and spits the greens into the toilet.
After he is excused, Pingu climbs into the toy box and finds his red ball inside. He asks Father to inflate it for him, so he fetches the pump and does so. Pingu finally goes outside with his ball, but then sets it down and goes back inside to blow his nose. While Pingu is gone, Pingo and Pingg find his ball and run away with it.
Pingu returns and chases after the pair, trying to retrieve his ball. He eventually finds them tossing it back and forth. After some fighting which leads to Pingu tripping over his ball and bursting it, he runs home as Pingo and Pingg pummel him with snowballs. Back home, Mother bandages up his head and Father fixes his punctured ball. Pingu finishes the day off with a rest in his hammock.

Trivia
- This episode can be featured in Angelina Ballerina: The Silver Locket DVD, Bob the Builder: Snowed Under: The Bobblesberg Winter Games DVD, Fraggle Rock: Where It All Began and Kipper: Kipper Helps Out DVD.
- When Pingu's father patches up the ball, he uses tape to make a cross shape; the juxtaposition of the red ball and the white cross makes it look like the flag of Switzerland, which is where the show originated. It is unknown if this was intentional on the crew's part.
- This is the first episode to feature Antonio Conde in the original version and Andy Benedict in the restored version, both as the composers.
- In the redubbed version, only the original first two Noot Noots were heard, but the last Noot Noot was rerecorded. This is one of the only times any of Pingu's dialogue from the original is retained, as usually all his lines would be rerecorded in the redubs for consistency.
- This is the first time where Carlo Bonomi voices all of the characters.
- This is Pingu and his Family debut.
Censorship
- The scenes in which Pingg smacks Pingu on the head and Pingo makes Pingu trips over his ball were removed from BBC airings and VHS releases; this later led to the episode being pulled from British television altogether. While it aired in the United States during its run on Cartoon Network, it did not air in that country afterwards.
Goofs
- In the opening shot, the fish plate is in the centre of the table, but in the close-up of Mother, it is right next to her.
- In the close-up of Father, he is shown to be eating fish, even thought there wasn't any on his plate in the opening shot.
- Pingu's fork is shown to be made of metal at first, but when he damages the prongs, it changes to clay. It was probably intentional during the making of the episode, because metal forks can't be dented easily.
- When Father tells Pingu to come back to the table, there are a lot more greens on Pingu's plate than there were in the previous shot.
- The pump's pipe changes position when Pingu heads outside.
